HYDRA cascade solutions
Hydra
Freon use reduced by up to 90%
Freon is confined to the core of the refrigeration system, while the cooling is transferred to more environmentally friendly secondary refrigerants such as glycol through heat exchanger technology. The glycol then circulates through pipes and cooling coils to the areas where the actual cooling takes place.
Maximise Your Existing Investment
Upgrade older refrigeration systems to environmentally friendly refrigerants
Reduce Freon use by up to 90%
Now is the opportunity to upgrade older onboard refrigeration systems with a Hybrid F/A solution that can reduce Freon use by up to 90%.
Freon is confined to the core of the refrigeration system, while the cooling is transferred to more environmentally friendly secondary refrigerants such as glycol through heat exchanger technology. The glycol then circulates through pipes and cooling coils to the areas where the actual cooling takes place.
The benefits are significant, as the risk of Freon leaks is greatly reduced and any potential leak is confined to a limited area. The savings begin immediately through improved cooling performance, while the need to purchase Freon may effectively be eliminated for the next decade, in addition to the positive environmental impact.
More rapid cooling with less energy
HYDRA provides better cooling while using much less energy than before. Cooling performance is also improved, for example, in cooling coils, where ice build-up is significantly reduced.
HYDRA can be connected to all older refrigeration systems from Cooling, as well as many systems from other manufacturers.
Leak risk m inimised
The risk of damage caused by leaks is minimised. The risk associated with a Freon leak is confined to a very limited area, and with monitoring in place, action can be taken immediately to prevent damage.
If a glycol leak occurs, the associated cost is significantly lower than with Freon. In addition, glycol does not pose the same risk of damaging the catch, as certified food-grade glycol is used in approximately 90% of the system.
A unique way to maximise the value of existing investments, reduce operational risk, and lower operating costs.
Short installation time
Hydra is designed for fast installation. Its compact layout makes efficient use of space and allows for easy installation. The solution is largely standardised, with only a small portion requiring adaptation to each vessel or site. A typical conversion takes around two weeks.
Reuse existing investments with greater operating efficiency
Instead of replacing the entire system, much of the existing investment can be retained while making the system significantly more cost-effective and environmentally friendly.
Precise modern control system with remote connectivity
As operating conditions can vary, for example between seasons, it is important to control cooling and refrigerant flow automatically and with a high degree of precision. Cooling’s new generation of control systems is designed to maintain highly accurate cooling and refrigerant flow regardless of operating conditions.
The control panel can be located almost anywhere, and it is possible to have more than one control screen.
Remote service available
The control system from Cooling for HYDRA offers remote connectivity, allowing our service team to connect to the system from anywhere, provided an internet connection is available. Remote access is used to monitor the status of the equipment, carry out servicing, and fine-tune the system when needed.
HYDRA can deliver a fast return on investment
By choosing Cooling’s HYDRA solution, companies are not only taking an important step towards more environmentally responsible refrigeration, but also significantly reducing the operational risks associated with Freon-based systems.
Most importantly, the operational benefit comes from substantially lower energy consumption. In many cases, energy use can be reduced by around 50% while maintaining comparable cooling performance.
For hold refrigeration with air coolers or cooling coils
Whether air coolers or cooling coils are used in the fish holds, HYDRA is highly suitable for both methods. Regardless of the hold refrigeration method, HYDRA can significantly improve the performance and operation of older systems.
